The University of Miami Health System/Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences offers evaluation and treatment for a broad range of psychiatric disorders for patients of all ages, socioeconomic levels and cultural backgrounds. Individual, family and group treatments are available in our inpatient, outpatient, and day treatment programs.
Our faculty members are experts in the treatment of depression, bipolar and anxiety disorders, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, alcohol and substance abuse, and other psychotic disorders. We offer special psychiatric services for children and adolescents, women, geriatric patients and those with HIV/AIDS. Other specialty areas include: psychopharmacology, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal psychotherapy, biofeedback, and stress management.
Our department is affiliated with Jackson Memorial Hospital, the Miami Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Mt. Sinai Medical Center. In addition to these locations, our physicians provide inpatient and outpatient care to children, adolescents, adults and senior citizens at the Courtelis Center for Psychosocial Oncology at the UM/Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and private practices in Coconut Grove and Boca Raton.
Additionally, we are developing a state-of-the-art telepsychiatry service that will enable our faculty to provide consultation and ongoing care to patients worldwide.
