This division is dedicated to the psychiatric care of medical and surgical patients who develop neuropsychiatric manifestations of their medical illness, as well as, exacerbation of a pre-existing psychiatric condition. The division provides specialized psychiatric care at the interface of medical and surgical services. Our psychiatrists are board certified in Psychosomatic Medicine, a sub-specialty of psychiatry dedicated to the care of patients with complex medical and surgical illnesses. Patients are seen in the intensive care units, medical units and surgical units at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the University of Miami Hospital.
Our psychiatrists are skilled in the specialized psychiatric management of patients with cancer, solid organ transplants, stem cell transplants, cardiac rehabilitation, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, stroke, and women’s mental health during pregnancy and post partum.
